Antinous, or the Problem of Beauty

A chamber piece for six actors, ANTINOUS, OR THE PROBLEM OF BEAUTY tells the story of Antinous, the doomed lover of the emperor Hadrian. Towards the end of the 19th century, a scholar, his beautiful young lover, and their female companion travel to Rome to tease out the meaning of the Hadrian and Antinous story from their different perspectives. As they slip in and out of roles ancient and modern, the play becomes a shifting
meditation on beauty, power, and fate.
