Standards of Decency

These plays were written for Blue Coyote Theater Group’s rambunctious evenings of 10-minute plays. For the first Standards of Decency (2007) we were instructed to write something having to do with blasphemy, nudity, violence, or some combination thereof. For the second, HAPPY ENDINGS (2009), the subject was the sex trade and, for 300 VAGINAS BEFORE BREAKFAST (2011), the world of internet porn. You can read my respective contributions by clicking on the links: In EARNING A SHARP REBUKE FROM EMILY POST, God’s failure to show up at a dinner party sparks consternation, speculation, and gossip. In SWITCH, an Italian male prostitute has an existential crisis, and in PLATO’S RETREAT, the struggle of Plato’s followers to leave the cave of shadows is complicated by the fact that the shadows are totally hot.
